About
I am an ethnographer concerned with social inequality and its potential remedies.
I am currently an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Southern Methodist University. I completed my Ph.D. at Rice University in 2022, after which I served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Center for Research on Child & Family Wellbeing at Princeton University.
My research has been covered in The New York Times, The Associated Press, NPR Houston, BET, Religion News Service, and KMGH-TV Denver.
Research Interests
My research explores the cultural processes that create, perpetuate, and legitimate inequality in US society. My primary focus is understanding how organizations and institutions attempting to address inequality might actually perpetuate it.
I have explored these questions within a variety of settings in my own work, including social service organizations, disability assistance programs, scientific workplaces, and churches.
